CBSA Code

CBSA stands for Core Based Statistical Area, which is the official term for a functional region based around an urban center of at least 10,000 people and is currently used by the U.S. Office of Management & Budget to define substantial population areas as a replacement to MSA codes. Each CBSA has a 5-digit numeric code.

You can limit the results of your search to records containing ZIP+4 information within the CBSAs that you specified. For more information, see Order Only Records with ZIP+4.

Specify CBSA Codes

1           On the Geography tab, click CBSA.

2           In the text boxes provided, enter the CBSA codes you want to include in the search. If you do not know them, use Lookup.

To clear the text boxes of all entries, click Clear All.

CBSA Code Lookup

1           On the Core Based Statistical Area page, click Look Up.

2           Define the search criteria:

         To look up a certain CBSA, enter its full or partial name or code in the corresponding text box.  

         To search within a certain state, select this state in the corresponding list. Do not specify the state if you want to search within all states.

3           Click Search.

4           Select CBSA codes that you want to include in the search or click the Select All check box.

5           Click Add Selected CBSA Codes.
