Radius Selections

Contents Hide

By means of Radius selection you can search for leads around a certain starting point.

You define a starting point (also called "centroid"). Then you limit an area around the centroid by distance, by the number of leads you want to get, or by driving time, and only addresses within this area are included in the search.

The Radius and Multi-Location Radius are the only selections that cannot be combined with other geographical selections in a search. Other geographical selections become unavailable after radius selections are used in the search.

Specify Radius Selections

1           On the Geography tab, click Radius.

2           Select how you want to radiate out from the centroid. Your options are:

Miles. Use this option to get all the records within the radius boundaries. For example, you can search for prospects within a 10 mile distance from the centroid.

Quantity. Use this option to get a specific number of records in the neighborhood of the centroid. For example, you can search for 1000 prospects closest to the centroid.

Drive time. Use this option to get all the records within a certain amount of driving time from the centroid. For example, you can search for prospects within a 10 minute drive from the centroid.

3           Select the centroid type:

ZIP Code (recommended for large radii)

         ZIP/Carrier Route

         ZIP+4

         Latitude/Longitude

If the Mapping Lookup feature is turned on for the system, Point on a Map option is displayed instead of Latitude/Longitude. For more information, see Mapping Lookup.

4           Enter the actual centroid data (ZIP, ZIP+4, CRRT codes, or latitude and longitude coordinates) in the corresponding text boxes. If you do not know ZIP+4, CRRT, or Latitude/Longitude, you can look them up by address.

5           In Miles/Qty/Minutes text box, specify the radial distance in miles, the number of the records, or driving time in minutes depending on what you selected in step 2.

6           (Optional) Select Do not cross state lines check box if you want to get records only from the state where the centroid is located.

This option is not available if drive time or Lat/Lon is selected as the way of radiating from the centroid.

7           (Optional) For some lists, it is possible to specify the granularity level for the Radius selection. The granularity level is set to "Auto" by default, which means that the system selects the optimal granularity based on the centroid type you selected. In case you have some specific requirements towards the granularity level, you can change it manually in the Granularity level list. The ability to select the granularity level is unavailable if drive time is selected as the way if radiating from the centroid. For more information on granularity levels, see Granularity.

ZIP+4, Carrier Route, and Latitude/Longitude Lookup

You can look up ZIP+4, CRRT, and Latitude/Longitude by address.

1           On the Geographical Radius Selections page, click the Get ... button (Get ZIP+4, Get CRRT, or Get Lat/Lon depending on the selected centroid type) next to the field for entering the centroid data.

2           Enter the exact address for your centroid. You can enter either street address, city and state, or street address and ZIP code in the corresponding fields.

3           Click Add Location.

Mapping Lookup

1           On the Geographical Radius Selections page, select Point on a Map as a centroid.

2           Click Open a Map. The Mapping Look Up page opens.

3           Enter the address that you want to use as a starting point in the corresponding text box.

You can enter either the exact address, or just a street, city, state, or ZIP code, and then manually adjust the starting point on the map.

4           Specify the radial distance in miles.

5           Click Search.

Your location with the marked center and boundaries of the selected radius is displayed on the map.

If you selected the quantity or drive time option of radiating from the centroid, the boundaries of the selected radius are not displayed, and you can see only the starting point marker.

To change the coordinates of the starting point or the radial distance, drag the blue markers on the map. The original starting point is still highlighted by a flag.

To view the latitude and longitude of the starting point, click the center marker.

6           Click Save and continue with your search.
